The Van Dyke Farms development was built around the Tennis Center Clubhouse and associated tennis, basketball, racquetball, soccer, baseball and playground facilities. The developer's wife, Mary Shannon, one of the three original Board of Directors, was an avid tennis player. She was instrumental in the construction of eight outstanding hard courts, two of which are now lighted (Courts 3 & 4), and two of which are now double lined for both tennis and pickleball play (Courts 7 & 8). The courts host play at all levels and are available for use by members and their guests as part of the neighborhood's common area amenities. These eight courts are complemented with four regulation size racquetball courts used for tennis, soccer, pickleball, squash, handball, volleyball, hockey and lacrosse training. Keys are available via the property manager at lcoleman@greenacre.com to gain access to control the lights, access restrooms, water fountains and the observation deck.
Tennis and Pickleball Play is on a First Come First Served basis but is limited to the times and courts available for residents and their guests as shown on the Fall 2024 Court Schedule. The dates of the three USTA Teams in the Fall of 2024 will be posted September 2024.
Outstanding individual, team and group training is also available through Award Winning Tennis Professional Eric Dobsha (DTS, Inc.) and his accomplished staff. Please visit Eric's website at www.dobshatennis.com for all the details on programs offered and their availability. Eric and his staff have been providing profession training at Van Dyke Farms since 2017. Eric can also be reached at edobsha.hotmail.com or 770 330 0099. All participants in DTS, Inc., are required to complete and sign either an Adult Waiver or Youth Waiver. DTS, Inc., tennis staff at Van Dyke Farms includes Eric Dobsha, Sukhwa Young, David Kuhlman, Mitchell Pritchard and Rohan Kale.
Team League Play is also available in Van Dyke Farms. There are currently five league teams utilizing the Van Dyke Farms tennis facilities as their home courts. All five are women teams: ALOT B Captain Vicki Peckham (Non-Resident), ALOT C Captain Pam Moore (Lakes), USTA 3.5 Captain Sally Farkas (Trails); USTA 3.0 Captain Pam Moore (Lakes); and, USTA 2.5 Captain Sheryl Cornell (Paddocks). Tryouts typically occur in June for the upcoming year's play for each of these teams. These teams are required to apply and gain approved by the Board at least four weeks prior to the start of league play per the Common Areas Rules and Regulations. Team Captains are required to submit a Van Dyke Farms Team League Court Availability Form to the Association President at least six weeks prior to start of league play to ensure the Board of Directors has the necessary time to consider and approve of the request. Participants on these teams must also complete and sign a League Play Tennis Waiver.
Such waivers are required to be submitted to the Association President to ensure they are made part of the Association's official records.
There is a Tennis Committee that meets on an as needed basis to provide recommendations to the Board of Directors on tennis related matters. Members include: Michelle Barry, Chair (Trails); Sally Farkas (Trails); Curtis Freeland (Paddocks); Pam Moore (Lakes); Sandeep Nair (Paddocks); Karen Sanford (Paddocks); and Rob Tykot (Southfork).
