A comprehensive Survey of Palms in Van Dyke Farms in Public View was conducted in late-July 2023.  The purpose of the survey was to have a data base members could visit when considering how to best trim their palms.  A catalogue of Palms and Cycads of the American Southeast is included for reference.  To facilitate the survey palms were divided into seven categories:

 

Bismarck Palms 

Date Palms:  Includes Canary Island, Medjool, Pindo, Sylvester and possibly others

Fan Palms:  Includes Chinese, Florida Thatch, Mexican, Mediterranean, Windmill and possibly others 

Foxtail or Foxtail Like: Includes Adonida, Foxtail, King Alexander, Montgomery, Royal, Solitaire, Spindle and possibly others

Queen Palms 

Sabal Palms

Other Palms:  Includes Areca, Lady, Paurotis, Roebelenii, Sago, Saw Palmetto and others
